A mosaic is an artistic technique that uses various size pieces of glass or tile to create a whole image or object.
Mosaics have a long history, starting in Mesopotamia in the 3rd millennium BC. Pebble mosaics were made in Tiryns in Mycenean Greece; mosaics with patterns and pictures became widespread in classical times, both in Ancient Greece and Ancient Rome. Early Christian basilicas from the 4th century onwards were decorated with wall and ceiling mosaics.
The more traditional method in mosaic art refers to mosaic art created by directly attaching the tesserae (glass) to the surface where the mosaic will be displayed.
I use this most traditional method for Glass on Glass and Glass on any other surface mosaic creation.
